DOWNHILL & CROSS COUNTRY SKIING

One of the many things that sets Philipsburg apart from many other Rocky Mountain towns is the presence of an excellent ski hill – Discovery Ski Area (locally known as “Disco”). This 8,158 foot ski hill has 2,200 acres and three faces which offer all skill levels fun and challenging groomed runs and moguls as well as several lifts. The hill sees annual snowfall exceeding 210 inches and drops nearly 2,400 vertical feet and 1.5 miles along some ski runs. In 2013, Philipsburg was named as one of America’s “best secret ski towns” by National Geographic. In addition, Philipsburg’s location between Bozeman and Whitefish mean other world-class ski hills are only a few hours away. Local ski and snowboard rentals are available at Discovery.

If flatter terrain is more your speed, Discovery Basin and the Georgetown Lake area provide miles of groomed cross-country and snowshoe trails. Local ski and snowshoe rentals are available at Discovery.
