Discovery Bike Park: During summer months, Discovery Basin Ski Area turns into a mountain bike park complete with lifts and a vertical drop-off of more than 1,000 vertical feet! This bike park operates from June18th through October each year. The bike runs on this hill are for intermediate to experienced riders. Contact Discovery Bike Park for more information.

Ice Fishing Georgetown Lake: I personally have ice-fished this lake and it was quite impressive. Brook trout and Kokanee salmon abound from just 20 or 30 meters off shore. Northern pike, perch and several other trout species are also abundant here. Most folks fish from pumphouse on Eastern side of lake but maybe you’ll find an even better spot! Good luck out there and let us know @ElkView if you need any equipment as we have plenty.

Ghost Towns: Garnet Ghost Town (34 miles), Granite Ghost Town (12 miles) and Coolidge Ghost Town (64 miles) are three attractions that many visitors add to their itineraries while in Philipsburg. Visiting these places on your own or taking guided tours are both possible. Contact each location for specific information.

Tower/Granite Historical Mine Tours: Not sure if these are still available. But I’ve taken one and they are worth it.

Side-by-side/ATV Tours: Not sure if these are still available.

Transportation: Time is precious while on vacation, so a little help getting people or stuff from point A to point B is key. Travel to/from as well as order pickups/drop-offs in Missoula, Bozeman, Butte, Helena or elsewhere are possible from Philipsburg. Contact Richwell Transport LLC for more information. Credit cards are accepted. www.richwellmontana.com

Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks: Glacier National Park (GNP) is located 157 miles north of Philipsburg, while Yellowstone National Park (YNP) is located 187 miles south of Philipsburg. This means that you are situated perfectly for easily reaching both of these iconic parks during your trip to Montana.

Continental Divide Trail (CDT): One of three major national trails, the Continental Divide Trail (CDT) spans 3,100 miles from Canada to Mexico and it’s right in our backyard. Scratch off a bucket list item and say you’ve hiked the CDT (even though you only did a few miles of it 😉). We won’t tell.

Camping: Lost Creek State Park, Stony Creek Campground, Georgetown Lake, East Fork Reservoir, Skalkaho highway and plenty more. Google it for a complete list.

Montana Highway 1: Connecting Drummond to Anaconda, with Philipsburg smack in the center, is Montana State Highway 1 – one of the first entirely paved roads in the state and has existed since 1922. This scenic byway off of the more popular Interstate 90 is a scenic experience and opens Montana’s small town charm to those travelers who are not in a hurry.
